Numbering a hall: labelling rows and seats
Clear seat numbering shortens admission and makes reserved seating possible. Six steps and a checklist.
Choose the system
Sequential (seat 1 to n per row) is easiest for occasional visitors. Odd/even (odd left of the centre aisle, even right) speeds up admission with two entrances per row. What matters is one system throughout the venue.

Label the rows
Small halls: rows 1 to 30. Large halls with blocks or tiers: add the block to the sign, e.g. “Block C, Row 11”. The row sign sits on the first chair of each row, printed on both sides at centre aisles.
Choose the mounting
Stickers peel off and leave residue, drilling damages the chairs. Clip-on numbers are bent for the chair model, hold without tools and come off without residue. For tubular frames: tube clips.
Make it legible
Black on white or white on black, sans-serif. Seat numbers are read up close, row signs must be legible from the aisle. Sector colours or a logo can be added in UV print.
Plan for accessibility
Public venues should make seats findable for blind and visually impaired guests. Seat numbers with Braille can be added at any time, even for selected rows only.

Store and set up again
With changing layouts, storage boxes with inserts keep every number in its slot, sorted by row and seat. Set-up goes row by row, without sorting.
Mounting compared
